Blakeney is a picturesque coastal harbour famous for it's large colony of grey seals. The quayside has small sailing craft moored up, and children happily enjoy lowering their crab bait over the side filling little buckets with their catch, others stroll or sit for awhile to take in the view. The sea defenses provide a footbath leading out towards the Sea for more exhilarating walks.

Blakeney Point itself is accessed from the neighbouring Cley Beach & is the end of a long sand & shingle spit that protects Blakeney from the open sea. A large shallow lagoon forms in high tide behind the spit which provides an ideal stretch of open water for small sailing dinghies, who can then return to Blakeney to moor up. One notable larger nautical resident is The Juno built by a local boat builder Charlie Ward, from a design influenced by the Sailing Barges used in the last century on the East Coast. Both Blakeney & Cley were historically busy commercial harbours & far more extensive than today's quayside.

Blakeney is made up of lovely Norfolk flint cottages with their pantile roofs found along narrow streets & walkways often leading off into small courtyards of old fisherman's cottages. There are two main hotels, a number of foodie pubs and an excellent fish restaurant The Moorings. Explore the little shops, cafes, galleries and there is a local mini supermarket, deli and petrol station. Blakeney is a very popular location to stay and visit the coastal villages and beaches of North Norfolk.
